A cluster of living structures, interconnected with passages and openings, floats in a liminal organic space like a tiny SF squatter settlement in an interdimensional space.

Mistodon: If you dig blood & guts for Halloween, put away the slasher flick & fire up the medical imaging suite. Nick Lakowski painted this cross-section of an incidentaloma, an unexpected tumour encountered while looking for something else. It was included in the spooky MIST1017 artpack collection released 8 years ago this month.

Before a dark and moody backdrop are visible cursive letters spelling out The Masque Of The Red Death, all captured in an ornate grey frame

Mistigram: here's Lobo/Spitoufs' #ANSIart cover page to #EdgarAllanPoe's #MasqueOfTheRedDeath, part of their #ANSIPOE collection illustrating Poe's complete works for BBS-based consumption. They were all included in the MIST1017 artpack collection released 8 years ago this month.

An apparently angry man with long black hair and dark circles around his eyes stares and yells (sings, rather) directly at the viewer against a red backdrop.

Mistigram: RIP to #BlackSabbath frontman #OzzyOsbourne, who just went to that great metal gig in the sky. #Teletext portrait by [profile] horsenburger, originally shared in the spooky MIST1017 artpack collection released 8 years ago. ✌️

Beneath the hands of a tall grandfather clock, a skullish visage peers out from beneath a violet cowl, while beneath text reads: And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night. And one by one dropped the revellers in the blood-bedewed halls of their revel, and died each in the despairing posture of his fall. And the life of the ebony clock went out with that of the last of the gay. And the flames of the tripods expired. And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all.

Mistigram: this #ANSIart accompanied the culmination of #EdgarAllanPoe's #MasqueOfTheRedDeath in Lobo Spitouf's complete illustrated #ANSIPOE collection for BBSes, reprinted in the MIST1017 artpack collection released seven years ago this month.

A desktop computer displays a white skull and crossbones on its screen while a nimbus of hot, uncontrollable flames fire radiate out from behind the severely compromised machine.

Mistigram: perhaps the scariest thing imaginable to a computer hobbyist is the pwning and ruination of their expensive machines by hackers. This scenario is explored in this #teletext screen by [profile] illarterate, titled #GoodTimes after the renowned faux-virus. This piece was included in the spooky MIST1017 artpack collection released seven years ago this month.

Beneath a sinister Inquisitor and a swinging blade, we see a big blue rat leaning toward the viewer away from an area of mild orange illumination in a dark dungeon, having just heroically nibbled through leather straps confining a prisoner to a death machine.

Mistigram: this #ANSIart illustration of a rat was drawn by Spitoufs, ushering in the end of The Pit And The Pendulum in his ANSIPOE collection of the complete works of #EdgarAllanPoe, arranged for the enjoyment of BBS callers. It was included in the spooky MIST1017 artpack released seven years ago this month.
