A cluster of living structures, interconnected with passages and openings, floats in a liminal organic space like a tiny SF squatter settlement in an interdimensional space.

Mistodon: If you dig blood & guts for Halloween, put away the slasher flick & fire up the medical imaging suite. Nick Lakowski painted this cross-section of an incidentaloma, an unexpected tumour encountered while looking for something else. It was included in the spooky MIST1017 artpack collection released 8 years ago this month.

Above a carpet of uniform white cloud, particles of superheated metal spark and stream across the clear blue sky, falling far short of their target.

Mistigram: Nick Lakowski created this beautiful painting of the spectacular and very expensive lights show #SpaceX sponsored over the Caribbean in January and March of this year. This piece was included in the new science fiction-themed MIST0525 artpack collection.

A terrified tomato with a gap-toothed face dangling on its vine opens its mouth, prepared to launch into a guttural, soul-destroying scream, as telegraphed by the word SCREAM being written on top in giant desperate letters.

Mistigram: as we demonstrated one year ago, in Mist Classic days Onyx was a non-stop music tracking machine. In the meantime he's been a tireless writer of SF ebooks. But recently he has taken up #painting, so for the new MIST-30 artpack we charged him with painting an homage to our first WHQ BBS 30 years ago, Nitnatsnoc's #TheScreamingTomato.

A huge bald pro wrestler in a dark singlet sits at an office chair, stationed before a beige desktop computer at a desk displaying an early windowed program manager.

Mistigram: The oil paintings of Nick Lakowski played a big role in our revival over the past decade, playfully demonstrating that if the subject is a good fit, you can make incredible computer art without benefit of computers. Case in point: this still from a 1988/89 advertisement for Vendex's #HeadStart computers, starring pro wrestler #KingKongBundy. This piece was included in the MIST1121 artpack collection.
