On a textmode representation of a windowed computer desktop, overlapping windows are shown demonstrating ouija, star chart and tarot programs (that latter being the foreground program) being run simultaneously. Other programs are suggested by a task bar at the bottom of the screen.

Mistigram: on the top floor of the wizard's tower, when they're done pondering their orb they fire up a vintage 8-bit computer and use it to answer some e-mails. This #PETSCII-inspired concept sketch of DivineOS, running all the essential magic apps, was drawn by [profile] littlebitspace and included in the recent MIST-30 artpack celebration.

Like the walls of a maze, long, twisting lines spell out the word Mistfunk

Mistigram: this labyrinthine Mistfunk logo was drawn as a modified #PETSCII screen for the #C64 by our guest [profile] goto80 of text-mode.org. It was released in the recent MIST-30 artpack collection celebrating 30 years since our first release.

A white stag looks back on a snowy night.

Mistigram: In last year's MIST1223 artpack collection, we included this monochrome #PETSCII illustration by [personal profile] a_mouse of a white stag carefully keeping track of its suroundings on a snowy night.

All lined up in a row in the starry expanses of the cosmos are a small red dwarf, a tiny blue planet, a slightly larger dead red world, a blue-green sphere that looks a lot like the Earth, and a giant round skull

Mistigram: this #textmode art screen by [profile] littlebitspace, "Interplanetary", figured prominently in last month's spooky MIST1024 artpack collection, because... wtf! So there's a cosmic conjunction of celestial spheres, fine! But what's up with the colossal, planet-sized skull? Is there an immense headless torso somewhere out there in orbit around Jupiter? Does the skull have a molten core, an atmosphere even? Every answer opens the door to weirder questions.

A close-up view of a dry, bony fleshless skull, shaded in its eye and nose openings, with a mystical glyph of unknown (but presumably unwholesome) meaning drawn on what was once its forehead.

Mistigram: you can practically feel the texture of old dry bone beneath your fingertips looking at this custom #PETSCII illustration of a #skull by [profile] littlebitspace. What's with the glyph drawn on its forehead? And why is it described as a "mask"? Some questions are better left unanswered. This piece was included in the spooky new MIST1024 artpack collection.

Above ground, before a light background, a healthy black cat, seemingly very much alive, goes for a little prowl. On the flip side, under the ground, an inverted feline skeleton, white bones against dark dirt, reflects its posture precisely.

Mistigram: Everyone knows that a cat has nine lives, but conversely, the name of [profile] littlebitspace's screen here featuring the sinister feline reflection is "9 Deaths". It won first place in the Extended Text Art compo at the recent [Bad username or site: flashparty @ ar] demoparty, and was included in the spooky new MIST1024 artpack collection.

A heavily textured human cranium, chipped, cracked and weathered, stares hollowly back at the viewer as it reveals a tender shoot sprouting from a substantial crack at the top of its calvaria -- all in stark black and white.

Mistigram: this skullish monochrome #PETSCII exploration of the cycle of death and rebirth is unsurprisingly the handiwork of [profile] littlebitspace and was included in the spooky MIST1022 artpack collection released two years ago this month.

A lot of green-glowing drippy pseudopods and tentacles and things drape their way down a stepped pyramid under a night sky in which the stars are right -- the kind of scene Lovecraft would describe as full of inhuman angles and unspeakable blasphemies, so who am I to try to describe it?

Mistigram: [profile] bnjmnbrgmn (aka Bema) drew this, "In his house at R'lyeh" (dead #Cthulhu waits dreaming) as part of an eldritch suite of #Lovecraftian #textmode screens fashioned from #PETSCII characters. This gloriously goopy green Cyclopean scene was included in the spooky MIST1021 artpack collection released three years ago this month.

Four yellow skulls, facing the viewer, occupy a two by two grid, each cell offering a different garish combination of background and detail colours.

Mistigram: whatever your favorite iconic subject, it makes for an excellent fit in #AndyWarhol's serially repetitive, garishly tinted #popart style. [profile] littlebitspace here shares with us textmode illustrations of skulls (possibly current portraits of Marilyn Monroe!) using the #PETSCII character set. This piece was included in the recent fine art-themed MIST0424 artpack collection.

A white-haired old man in a suit jacket gazes off-screen, at a room full of brilliant men whose patents he can claim under his own name.

Mistigram: this #PETSCII portrait of inventor and businessman #ThomasEdison was drawn by [profile] littlebitspace for the textmode art compo at the 2022 Edison demoparty, winning 7th place (and, critically, beating out his own competing portrait of Edison's rival Nikola Tesla.) This piece was included in the recent MIST1121 artpack collection.

A handsome moustached man in a sharp suit leans back against his surname written in large letters: TESLA.

Mistigram: this #PETSCII portrait of electricity innovator #NikolaTesla was drawn by [profile] littlebitspace for the #textmode art compo in the 2022 edition of the Edison #demoparty in Stockholm, Sweden, in which it placed tenth. It was included in the MIST1121 artpack collection on technological themes.

A handsome, perceptive man gazes back at the viewer at an angle with a moustache on his lip and sparks firing in his brain.

Mistigram: this #PETSCII portrait of electricity innovator #NikolaTesla was drawn by [profile] snakepetsken and included in the MIST1120 artpack collection released three years ago this month.

Variations of a profile of a smiling face looking right with the word :Mistigris: running up along the left edge of the screen, changing colours, rotating and reflecting, bouncing back and forth and zooming in endlessly.

Mistigram: for our 25th-anniversary extravaganza back in MIST1119, four years ago, we invited computer artists to put their own spin on a logo template provided by j33p33. [profile] jellica_______ made some great #teletext interpretations, then (presumably in collaboration with his colleague DataDoor) cooked up some wild animated #PETSCII variants of them. This is basically what we look like in our dreams.
