A colossal white octopus wraps its many tentacles around a cluster of skyscrapers about to have their seismic resistence sorely tested in a cloud of angry ink

Mistigram: flee for your lives! An enormous, enraged mollusk prepares to dismantle eight skyscrapers simultaneously in this screen, "Attacktopus", drawn by [profile] polyducks for last year's #ATASCII compo. This piece was included in the MIST-30 artpack celebration.

In a gentle pink palette, a cathode ray tube monitor that has given up the ghost ascends to the heavens against a white background, leaving a glitchy trail of gossamer box-drawing characters in its wake.

Mistigram: the fondly-remembered spirit of a bygone era, [profile] mavenmob's #ANSIart illustration 'CRT Angel' manages to enshrine a species of technological nostalgia. This screen was included in the MIST-30 artpack celebration.

On a textmode representation of a windowed computer desktop, overlapping windows are shown demonstrating ouija, star chart and tarot programs (that latter being the foreground program) being run simultaneously. Other programs are suggested by a task bar at the bottom of the screen.

Mistigram: on the top floor of the wizard's tower, when they're done pondering their orb they fire up a vintage 8-bit computer and use it to answer some e-mails. This #PETSCII-inspired concept sketch of DivineOS, running all the essential magic apps, was drawn by [profile] littlebitspace and included in the recent MIST-30 artpack celebration.

Two youths in traditional garb, including pom-pom hats, stare in bafflement at the word mist written in red in a white void

Mistigram: shortly after making a splash with his solo XBIn collection, Hortau stopped by our Discord to make a guest appearance in our MIST-30 30th anniversary celebration, with these two lads in whimsical hats. But what perplexity were they trying to wrap their heads around? Cthulu offered up some crude graffiti for them to stroke their chins at.

Framed by a logo reading Ghosts in the Machine, the interior of an android s head is viewed in cross-section, revealing machinery and mechanisms it uses to make sense of its input and act accordingly.

Mistigram: what kinds of mechanisms operate in your head when the hamster starts running on its wheel? The Godfather drew this spooky cross-section #ANSIart screen for a project titled #GhostsInTheMachine, included in the MIST-30 celebration artpack.

Three weird characters, looking like futurist multi-layered birdman jesters whose faces have been pulled inside-out and then put back together, take turns intoning the words: SAVE / AS / DRAFT

Mistigram: OG computer artist [profile] starstew of SITO (etc.) was a regular to Mistigris artpack releases for years following our 2014 revival, and we shared hundreds of his offbeat doodles before eventually pivoting to a more explicitly computer-y computer art orientation. Still, for our recent MIST-30 celebration, we tapped his drawing of these demonic e-mail guardians to help represent the unorthodox path we've trod together.

A logo reading F256K blasts across the screen, with the letters on the left in red, the ones in the middle in green and the ones on the right in blue, culminating in a yellow explosion blast -- all outlined in purple against a black backdrop

Mistigram: A colourful #ANSIart logo celebrating Foenix's #F256K hobbyist computer, running on the Western Design Center 65C02 microprocessor, was drawn by [profile] zeusii for the retrocomputing-themed Jolly Roger BBS. This piece was included in the recent MIST-30 artpack celebration.

A stylish female replicant with a look patterned after Pris in Blade Runner picks up a telephone receiver and converses with a more obviously mechanical android, whose ocular sensors pop out of their sockets.

Mistigram: this monochrome scene, promoting the fictitious 0300-HOT-BOTZ chatline, was drawn by [profile] illarterate. It placed 6th in last year's #ATASCII competition, and was included in the recent MIST-30 artpack celebration.

An angular grey Mistfunk logo hovers in the blackness above a pair of small skulls facing each other.

Mistigram: we've never released a .WAD, but in the wake of "DOOM: The Gallery Experience" perhaps we should try our hand at it. In the meantime, here's a stone cold #ASCIIart / #blockASCII Mistfunk logo drawn by [profile] littlebitspace and used as an infofile header in the recent MIST-30 celebration artpack.

A snake, whose sinuous torso consists entirely of negative space, slithers against a backdrop of commas and apostrophes.

Mistigram: #GungHayFatChoy! [personal profile] a_mouse drew this #ASCIIart python in celebration of #ChineseNewYear, which this time around is the year of the #snake! This ophidiac piece was included in the recent MIST-30 artpack collection. Hiss hiss hurray!

On all sides, ASCII art stickmen are bopping and grooving, repeating a series of two-frame dance moves... except for the laptop-shackled programmer toiling away in the middle of them all.

Mistigram: somewhere between the extreme settings of the sit/stand desk is a secret optional 'dance' function that it seems the programmer's office manager didn't spring for. This #ASCIIart animation is by [profile] joninscii, and was included in the recent MIST-30 artpack collection.

A stone cold skull & crossbones flaunts its shades and gold chains, as if to say you are not on the list.

Mistigram: this sassy pro-piracy PSA comes straight outta the underground courtesy of MC Fresher, who drew this #textmode illustration in Unicode using #Durdraw. It was included in the recent MIST-30 artpack collection.

Like the walls of a maze, long, twisting lines spell out the word Mistfunk

Mistigram: this labyrinthine Mistfunk logo was drawn as a modified #PETSCII screen for the #C64 by our guest [profile] goto80 of text-mode.org. It was released in the recent MIST-30 artpack collection celebrating 30 years since our first release.

A colossal letter M straddles the earth like a titan, standing up into the starry sky, while comets and meteors shower down around it.

Mistigram: for the recent MIST-30 artpack collection, while contemplating what else started in 1994, [profile] the60ftatomicman drew an animated Mistigris #ASCIIart version of the #throbber in #NetscapeNavigator, that would cycle in the top right corner while loading your requested URL.

Shaded yellow letters, crammed together like Japanese train commuters, spell out MISTIGRIS

Mistigram: Fitting a nine-letter crew name into an 80-column text screen doesn't leave a lot of room for niceties like kerning, but when VenomTheBlackOne did it out of the blue we realised this probably wasn't his first #ANSIart logo. More recent work by the artist formerly known as Kurrupt appeared in the new MIST-30 artpack collection.

A terrified tomato with a gap-toothed face dangling on its vine opens its mouth, prepared to launch into a guttural, soul-destroying scream, as telegraphed by the word SCREAM being written on top in giant desperate letters.

Mistigram: as we demonstrated one year ago, in Mist Classic days Onyx was a non-stop music tracking machine. In the meantime he's been a tireless writer of SF ebooks. But recently he has taken up #painting, so for the new MIST-30 artpack we charged him with painting an homage to our first WHQ BBS 30 years ago, Nitnatsnoc's #TheScreamingTomato.

A man made of text art characters sitting on a bench has an upsetting conversation with a pigeon about returning to his art practice.

Mistigram: after taking a few years off to recharge his batteries, [profile] xtcomics recently stepped back into the saddle again, resuming drawing his humorous comic strips using a mixture of #ASCIIart characters and emoji. This particular specimen is an unusual coloured one, and touches on some issues of motivation that many artists struggle with. This piece was included in the new MIST-30 artpack collection.

A sassy blonde cartoon fellow, viewed in extreme close-up, exclaims: MIST RULES JOO FOO! (It was a kinder, gentler counterpart to Eerie s earlier iconic slogan: JOIN RELIC, FUCKER!)

Mistigram: After the polarizing art dynamo known as Eerie got us pointed in the right direction during our initial formation, he gave his regrets & advised that he'd only be submitting experimental hirez doodles to us going forward. For the new MIST-30 artpack collection [profile] atonalosprey cloned one of them in #teletext from literally 30 years prior.

Emerging from a glowing point at the base of the darkness of existence, this radical (and apparently unclothed) magical grey woman conjures four NES controllers and a ton of flashy sparkles from out of the nothingness.

Mistigram: A righteous mythological Hindu babe, third eye wide open even though the other two are hidden behind bitchin' red shades, uses her six arms to demonstrate mastery over four NES controllers, enough to dominate a round of Super Spike V'Ball while eating a biryani. This intensely nostalgic #ANSIart screen, 'Every End Is Fated In Its Beginning', was drawn by [profile] mavenmob and included in the new MIST-30 30th anniversary artpack collection.

A gasoline pump drips fuel dangerously near by to a lit match, next to the phrase Life s A Gas.

Mistigram: this vaguely menacing #blockASCII illustration, #LifesAGas, is the handiwork of [profile] axbmusic and was included in the recent MIST-30 artpack collection.
